Delivery and the postcode checker

Customers can see what delivery costs before they reach checkout: on every product page, and by typing their postcode in the basket.

What customers see1 minute read
A product page, with Delivery from £8.50 by courier and free click and collect just under the price. Tap any picture to see it full size.

On the product page

  • Under the price, a line shows the cheapest delivery for that product and how it goes, such as "Delivery from £8.50 by courier".
  • If you offer click and collect, it says so there too.
  • Further down, the Delivery panel lists the price for each zone, such as Mainland UK or Highlands & Islands, with Quote where you price it yourself.
  • If you offer free delivery over an amount, the panel says so.

In the basket

  1. In the basket Summary, the customer types their postcode.
  2. They press Check.
  3. The delivery price for that postcode and everything in the basket shows, and the total updates. If it needs a quote, it says Delivery by quote.

How the price is worked out

The postcode decides the zone, and the biggest delivery service in the basket sets the charge for the whole order. One large item plus a small one is charged as one large item delivery. The panel on each product page reminds customers of this. The exact price always shows at checkout.

Changing prices or zonesPrices, free delivery and postcode zones are all in Settings > Delivery. Use Check a postcode there to see exactly what any customer will be charged.
